Customized Treatment for ED
Tadalafil (generic for Cialis®) is the same type of drug as sildenafil (Viagra®) and has been prescribed for erectile dysfunction (ED) and female sexual dysfunction (FSD). Daily low dose tadalafil has also been used for the treatment of male lower urinary tract symptoms associated with enlarged prostate (benign prostate hyperplasia; BPH), including in men with diabetes mellitus or following removal of the prostate gland. Off-label uses include treatment of sexual dysfunction in men receiving antidepressant therapy. Researchers have investigated the use of tadalafil to increase semen quality, assist in passage of distal ureteral stones, and aging bladder dysfunction.
Tadalafil significantly improves patients’ sexual confidence. A meta-analysis of 16 studies showed patients and their partners prefer tadalafil to sildenafil, and that the drugs had similar safety and efficacy. Therefore, tadalafil may be a better choice for ED treatment.
Tadalafil is now off patent and available as a pure pharmaceutical chemical. Our compounding pharmacy can formulate tadalafil in dosage forms and/or strengths and combinations that are not commercially available, including oral capsules, sublingual drops, rapid dissolve tablets, and nasal sprays. We will work together with physicians and their patients to customize medications that meet each patient’s specific needs. Your questions are welcome.
